First Extended Weekend Trip in Scotland!

So, epic fail on updating again soon, and now, of course, there's way too much to update on, but for tonight, here's the "in a nutshell" of the extended weekend:

Tano, a Spanish WWOOFer here at Cambo, and I, went to Inverness for an extended weekend trip.  It was  splendid!!

Friday, November 16th: Arrive in Inverness around 6:30 pm (first rental car in Scotland, excellent experience!) meet our CS host, eat dinner out and experience an awesome live music show.

Saturday, November 17th: Hike Ben Wyvis, and experience my first snow in Scotland!!  Absolutely fantastic, but FRIGID!  Still need to buy more winter clothing, and especially more appropriate winter hiking footwear.  Make dinner for our host and low key night chatting.

And for pictures of Ben Wyvis . . . . (All the pictures on this blog are courtesy of Tano, my very photographically gifted friend)  =)

SNOOOOOOOOOOW!!!  Can you tell how cold I am??  Ha!

Sunday, November 18th: Glen Affric, 12 mile walk around lake and river, beautiful scenery!  Check into hostel for 1 night and dinner out again - too late for grocery shopping and cooking..... sad, but delicious ginger prawns!  Christmas lights up around town lit for first night!!!  WOOHOOO!  So gorgeous!  Tano teaches me to take some really cool night time pictures.

The pics of Glen Affric.........

This was a really fantastically gorgeous bit of moss / ground cover / not sure what exactly it is (horticulture friends??) but I love how the plants look like stars!  And notice the snow?  =)  I almost feel like this looks as though it belongs in the ocean!

And now the xmas light pictures!!

Can you tell I am excited about the xmas lights??!!  Words do not describe!

Monday, November 19th: LOCH NESS!!  30 minute boat trip out on the lake to Urquhart Castle for a far too brief 1 hour exploration of the castle before returning by boat.  One of the coolest parts: we had fog and mist on the way to the castle and sunshine on the way back!  PERFECT!!  To Dores for an absolutely scrumptious meal in an Inn on the lake, and back to Dundee around 6 pm to return the rental car.

First the pics of Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle........

A duck eating bread out of my hand!!!  (and my key went wonky part way through, but you get the idea)  =)

Petting Nessy!!  This is the closest we got to seeing the monster!  =)
Tano getting friendly with Nessy
And our delicious shared meal in Dores.  MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!  So good!  This picture makes me hungry again just looking at it!

Overall, an absolutely fantastic trip!

And Rose - I will get a WWOOF update next week!  =)
