Weekend of May 11th to May 13th:
Went up to Fort Collins on Friday, 5/11 to visit former teachers and co-workers at CSU. So wonderful to catch-up! Bizarre time warp to be walking around campus again, especially taking the stairs to my old research labs. It was a stairwell I used on a daily basis from 2003-2006, and whenever I go back, it doesn't feel like years have gone by. How does that happen? It's just like being a student at CSU again.
In proper keeping with my years at CSU, I revisited my favorite sushi restaurant with friends that night. Our plan to recreate the extravagantly fun karaoke nights we used to spend at the Armadillo (yep the Mexican-American chain restaurant - weird but super fun) were replaced by a low key night sharing hilarious youtube / internet video clips. I've got some new gems! =)
Saturday we took the Budweiser brewery tour!!
Quite the impressive facility. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the clydesdale horses, but that buggy behind us is the one they used to pull for publicity. =) Tall Josh (can you deduce which one I speak of?) =) used to be one of the key karaoke people, and it's amazing how anything becomes fun with him. This weekend I finally got to meet his girlfriend Michelle!
After the tour you get to sample some of their beers. I'm starting to develop my palate for beer and actually found a wheat IPA I enjoyed (usually IPA's are way too hoppy for me, but this one was decent! I also tried a few beers on Sunday that a friend home brews and actually liked all of them . . .I'm becoming a beer connoisseur!!) ; ) Beth and Beano met up with us for the tour, and afterwards we all headed back to Josh's for a low key night with delicious burgers thanks to Josh's mad culinary skills.
Spent Saturday night at Beth and Beano's (baked scrumptious cookies until 1 am together - woohoo!) and got to see their new 12 week old, Annabelle, in her element on Sunday morning. SO precious. AND she can sleep through the vacuume cleaner running. I was very impressed.
Amazing family!! =)
I got home Sunday morning and helped make brunch for my own wonderful mamasita. We had exquisite eggs benedict, and fruit salad, and that night had a crepe night. Perfectly scrumptious meals for Mother's Day!
Mother's Day couldn't be complete without those touching family moments, time in the backyard aaaaaaaaaaaand we decided to top it off by watching Shutter Island. Seriously? Yes. Indeed. We sure did. Why? That is a great question. Good movie, definitely engaging, but holy crap is it ever disturbing. My mom and I ended up watching Mrs. Doubtfire until 1 am afterwards because I was too disturbed to go to sleep. Haha! Now that is a great way to end Mother's Day!
